Suma Root powder / Brazilian Ginseng, the amazing herbal heal all.

Hi This is Claire Indigo of Indigo Herbs, writing my first ever blog for this page. I'm looking forward to writing and chatting about herbs and superfoods, which is what this page is all about. Herbs from all around the world, herbs used for thousands of years in many different cultures. Just as in every other area of our lives we are going global, it's the same for the vast body of knowledge that is herbal medicine. We are now sharing indiginous medicines and learning more and more about the natural plant medicines from around this amazing gaia sphere. So us indigoes are really excited about sharing information, experiences and herbal babble. ENJOY! Suma / pfaffia Paniculata

So today we are having a look at

Suma is also known as Brazilian Ginseng, although it is not actually from the Ginseng family it has similar properties. The plant has a deep root system and it is the roots which are used to heal and prevent disease.

This plant is also called Paratoda meaning "for all things."
And it really does treat many of the bodies imbalances. It normalises and regulates the endocrine, nervous, digestive, cardiovascular and immune systems. Because it is an adaptogen it helps the body tackle stress, it is restorative to the bodies systems and promotes cellular regeneration, as well as oxygenating the cells. It is a nerve tonic, and will enhance and boost the nervous system. It also seems to be good for tackling states of exhaustion in the body, such as chronic fatigue syndrome, Epstein Barr syndrome and fibromyalgia.
It really is a heal all and it is known for having a positive healing effect on many states of disease. It is an analgesic and an anti-inflammatory, so it is good for rheumatoid arthritis, it can relieve states of pain, including menstrual discomfort and PMS.It is also used to treat hormone imbalance, and can be used to counteract side effects of the birth control pill. As well as menopausal symptoms and infertility. It is also a sexual stimulant, and is known to boost libido, low sexual energy and remedy impotence. It is also known to inhibit the growth of cancer cells, and tumour growth and kill leukemia cells, although much research is still needed in this area.So amongst other things it can regulate blood sugar, thus treating diabetes. It can regulate blood pressure, bring down cholesterol, neutralise toxins in the body and remedy ulcers. An amazing herbal multi tasker!
